Kalina is committed to providing its Participants with person-centered supports that is responsive to their needs and preferences. We will work with the Participants and/or their Representatives to develop a plan of support that meets their preferences and assists them to achieve their goals.

All aspects of Kalina’s service delivery promote participants’ active participation and inclusion in the community. We support participants to develop and maintain their independence, problem solving, social and self-care skills, as appropriate to their age, developmental stage, cultural background, or other needs and goals.

Choice & Control

Kalina believes the Participants are the best person to make decisions about their life, including the services and supports we provide them.

Kalina is committed to ensure that Participants have the right to:

• Be involved in all discussions and decisions about their support and services
• Give consent to supports and services
• Choose who is involved in their supports and services, including family members, friends and carers
• Choose to use other disability services, if preferred
• Have a choice of worker, wherever possible
• Seek a second opinion or refuse services or support options recommended to them at any time without consequence
